Identity

Brand and identity design

A logo is the smallest part. The identity is everything that has to look like it came from the same business.

AaBb Cc

Plenty of businesses have a logo and no identity. The website uses one blue, the visiting card a different one, the shop board a third, and the invoice template whatever Word offered. Each piece is fine. Together they read as several small companies.

We fix that with a system: one mark, a defined palette, two typefaces, and rules for how they combine. Then we apply it to everything you actually hand people.

The balloon on this site is our own example. Six pastel gores, one flame, a basket. It works at sixteen pixels in a browser tab and on a two metre banner, in colour and in one ink.

What the work covers

Included in every brand & identity project.

  • Logo design

Three directions explored, one taken to finish. Delivered as vector files that stay sharp at any size, plus flat and single colour versions for embroidery and signage.

  • Colour system

Primary, secondary and neutral shades, each with a text safe variant. Specified in hex, RGB and CMYK so screen and print match.

  • Typography

A heading face and a body face that pair well, with web and print licences confirmed before we hand them over.

  • Stationery and print

Visiting cards, letterhead, invoice template, brochure and flyer layouts, ready for the press.

  • Signage and banners

Shop boards, standees, hoardings and vehicle graphics set at the right scale, with bleed and safe margins already handled.

  • Brand guide

A short document showing correct and incorrect use, minimum sizes and clear space. Long enough to be useful, short enough that people read it.

Questions

Asked often enough to answer here.

If yours is not here, the general questions page covers how we work, or you can just ask.

Can you refresh our existing logo instead of replacing it?

Often that is the better call. If people already recognise the mark, we redraw it cleanly, fix the proportions and colours, and build the system around it. You keep the recognition and lose the problems.

Do we get the editable source files?

Yes. Vector sources, fonts we are permitted to pass on, and every export you might need. Nothing is held back.

Will the logo work in one colour?

It has to. Rubber stamps, embroidery, newspaper ads and etched signage are all single colour. We check that before finishing a direction, not after.
